R.I.P. Grandpa Farrimond

The world has lost one of the most amazing men. This world will be a very different place without my Grandpa Farrimond. On November 25, 2009, my grandpa Johnnie slipped away quietly in his sleep after many many years of fighting. He is now free of pain and how thankful I am that he slipped away and did not have to fight his way out of this life as well. My grandpa never referred to my as "Brittany" I was his "Brittany Brat" and I will miss hearing that. After many visits to him and realizing after all these years that time was getting much shorter with him. I wanted nothing more than for his face to light up and him to holler "My Brittany Brat" and I got that. My last visit to see him as I walked in the door he sat in the upright position, full of color and full of smiles for me and I heard... "My Brittany Brat where have you been?" It was tears of happiness rather than tears of sadness that I experienced. He sat and for the first time in months had a conversation with me and I felt like my wishes had all been granted. As I left his house that day my grandma was talking about my weight loss and from the porch I hear.. " Rolls are not on the diet.. No rolls for you Brittany Brat.. No rolls for you".. Thanksgiving day would have never been the same without him teasing me about eating all the rolls. Even though he teased EVERY single year about me eating all the rolls.. he was always the first one to pass me the bowl. I loved my grandpa and will miss him very much.

As we sat together as a family it was said that David came and took Grandpa to be with him during this next week. I truly believe that. After two and a half years we are finally scheduled to go to trial on Monday morning for David's Murder. As grandma has the whole family to support her David had no one in heaven to hold his hand, so he came and took Grandpa back with him. So as we lay my grandpa to rest on Monday morning he is now with David and can support him through the next week of challenges.

Grandpa, I will miss your smiles and your voice. I am so thankful that you are finally free of pain. I just wish you were still here with us and free of pain. I will miss you more that words can express and will carry you in my heart for the rest of my life. R.I.P. Grandpa I love you forever and always.
